One last shot

Had it been 10 years? A roller coaster ride of emotions.  A steep end of lies and betrayals. A countless times of giving up. None of that matters now. When you try to pick up where you left off and give it a “One last shot”.

There is no guarantee things will work out just fine this time. Anyway , you can always trust them; but you can never be sure of the warranty.  I always have this blind faith in people. Just like how I trust myself. But really is,  everything is time bounded. Everything is destined for an end. What matters is, you have started.

So, I may have to start living the happy life .. all over again.  Whether it will last or not, at least I’ve given it a shot.

In the name of Love – Was it worth the wait?

Either way, you can’t blame Star Cinema for that. After all, this is their Anniversary offering. They just gave out huge paychecks for this project. They even had good reasons to do so when they had Olivia Lamasan and Enrico Santos working on this.

So, was the year of waiting worth it? Hell yes! Star Cinema couldn’t be proud enough for such a Masterpiece.

Great cinematography , amazing soundtrack, some neat set pieces and a great love story. Something that you don’t get to see everyday.  It breaks through the conventions of the usual Pinoy movie we’ve seen in years. Imagine how we’ve been drowning with too much Romantic Comedies and Fantasy films, a new touch of Film Noir meets Mainstream is nonetheless, refreshing.

It superbly combines dance and two of the year’s most riveting performances to tell one of this year’s great love story.

Angel Locsin has nailed it. She did an excellent job of acting and reasonably good dancing. Her portrayal of Mercedes Fernandez, a bubbly girl turned apathetic and lifeless woman is astounding in its vitality and richness. She owned this character.  She breathed her, life. She adds boundless energy to the story. And does not need to throw in heavy movie lines to get all her story across, her eyes says it all.  And also, you will have to agree with me one way or another; this woman is a goddess.

Jake Cuenca was equally brilliant. His speechless stares at the far end of the story as if condemning Cedes was way too creepy. I could feel his fury. He did scared the sh!t out of me.

Aga Muhlach. Well, the guy could act no doubt about it. But being paired with a woman who is a lot more younger than him, it is amazing that he blended well. I did not see him as the actor. He was the character Emman.

I hope we do get another film as smart as this one. Unfortunately, they have just seriously raised the bar in  Filipino film making. And succeeding movies is going to have a hard time to exceed or at least come up to the expectation that this film had already set in…A “breath of life” inside a movie.

Watch it by all means. One of the best film ever to grace Philippine cinema. Absolutely worth your money. It will send you home moved and in a tuneful mood.

And a movie that twists as hard as this one, deserves commendation and applause.

Hello world!

For a starter, ‘ guess a brief summary of what’s to come from me is the most appropriate introduction for my Blogs.  Well, people, I am no celebrity and neither is popular. And I’m certainly not the inspirational type.  Some people knows me as dark and twisted like Meredith Grey. But some people have been quite happy to have me around.

Bottom line is, I am here to scribble some stuff whenever it is compelling. Whether it would benefit some people is one thing, if it does concerns you is another.  My thoughts would mostly be about reality than hopes and dreams. Disappointments than wonders. And  the struggle of a person being caught in between life’s obscure journey to vindication and happiness.

One thing is a bit certain, at the end of the day,.. I do matter.
